We pride ourselves on our attention to detail, safety culture, and long-term relationships with builders, architects, and property managers. Our growing team requires an experienced, qualified painter to join us in a genuine, ongoing position essential to our business operations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful applicant will perform a wide range of painting and decorating tasks, including:

  • Preparing surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling cracks, and applying primers or sealers.
  • Mixing and applying paints, stains, varnishes, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray guns.
  • Matching colours and finishes to specifications or customer requirements.
  • Applying protective coatings to interior and exterior surfaces, including timber, concrete, plaster, and metal.
  • Reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and colour schedules.
  • Erecting and dismantling scaffolding and working safely at heights.
  • Maintaining and cleaning tools, spray guns, brushes, and equipment.
  • Ensuring all works meet Australian Standards and comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations.
  • Supervising apprentices or assistants where required.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Minimum of 3 years of full-time employment in painting and decorating, including both residential and commercial experience.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality finishes, operate independently, and manage time across multiple sites.
  • Sound knowledge of surface preparation techniques, coating systems, and colour theory.
  • Demonstrated understanding of WHS requirements and safe work practices.
  • Competence in using modern painting equipment, including airless and HVLP spray systems.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (or an equivalent overseas trade qualification assessed as comparable).
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card).

Employment Conditions

  • Permanent full-time role (38 hours per week).
  • Standard hours: Monday to Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, with occasional overtime as required.
  • All tools, equipment, and PPE supplied.
  • Work sites are located across Melbourne and surrounding suburbs.

Remuneration and Benefits

  • Market-rate salary of $75,000 – $80,000 per year plus superannuation.
