The Vehicle Painter is responsible for preparing and painting buses and heavy vehicles, ensuring high-quality finishes that meet industry standards. This position involves meticulous surface preparation, paint application, and final finishing to restore or enhance vehicle aesthetics and durability.

Task & Responsibilities

- Cleaning, sanding, and masking vehicle surfaces to prepare for painting.

- Stripping old paint and rust from vehicle surfaces using abrasive tools and chemical removers.

- Filling cavities and dents with appropriate fillers and smoothing surfaces to ensure a uniform finish.

- Mixing and matching paint colors to achieve precise results based on specifications.

- Applying primer, base coat, and clear coat layers using spray equipment and techniques.

- Applying decorative designs, decals, or company branding as required.

- Inspecting painted surfaces for flaws and imperfections, correcting them as necessary.

- Maintaining and cleaning spray guns, compressors, and other tools to ensure optimal functionality.

- Polishing painted surfaces to a high-gloss finish.

- Applying protective coatings to enhance durability and longevity.

Responsibilities

- Ensure high-quality paint finishes and adherence to company standards.

- Understanding of workplace health and safety regulations, particularly those related to hazardous substances.

- Working closely with other technicians and team members to ensure timely completion of projects.

- Providing recommendations to clients on color schemes and finishes based on industry trends.

- Maintaining accurate records of work completed, including paint colors, techniques used, and project timelines.

Qualifications & Experience

- Certificate III in Automotive Refinishing Technology or equivalent.

- At least 1 year of full-time relevant work experience in vehicle painting or a related role.

- Proficiency in using paint mixing systems, spray equipment, and related tools.

- Proficiency in surface preparation techniques including sanding and cleaning.

- Strong color perception and matching skills.

- Physical stamina and dexterity for working with tools and standing for long periods.

- Exceptional attention to detail and precision.

- Knowledge of paint mixing, matching, and application methods.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Excellent communication skills.
