Fire Safety and Security Officer

Operational Services provides a catering, housekeeping, ward support and fire safety and security service to the entire Gladstone Hospital facility and surrounds. The Fire Safety and Security function includes the provision of a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff as well attending to all aspects of Fire Safety and responding to calls for support and codes including the management of aggression.
About the role:- Maintain a positive strong security presence in and around the Gladstone Hospital facilities including regular patrols and welfare checks as appropriate.
- Provide staff escorts at shift changes or as requested and maintain the functionality or service providing Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) and its dispersal as per Operating Procedures.
- Responding to calls for assistance and the management of aggressive patients and visitors on health services land as per the aggressive behaviour management protocols and methodology within response time requirements.
- Report maintenance issues including breakages, identified hazards and risks.
- Liaise with external agencies – QFAS, QPS, QAS as required.
- Well developed knowledge in the methods, techniques and procedures involved with the provision of Fire Safety and Security services within a healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated successful communication, oral and written (both hard copy and electronic) skills relevant to the position, including conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise work commitments and manage time effectively.
- Demonstrated ability of working effectively with the public.
- Ability to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices, including Workplace Health and Safety, Employee Equity, Anti-Discrimination and ethical behaviours.
- An hourly rate between $ $44.57 p.h. (Including 25% casual loading)
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
