About the role:

The Paralegal role is responsible for supporting the Legal Services team and broader Governance team as required and to provide efficient and timely delivery of legal and ancillary services across Momentum Energy, working collaboratively with other members of the Legal Services team and the broader business. This role is a part time role (1 day a week) up to the end of June 2026.

What it looks like:

  • Maintain an understanding of current and proposed business objectives and projects to understand impact on own workload,
  • Conducting research on legal issues and developments in the law,
  • Contributing to document management and administration tasks,
  • Prepare documents and conduct contract reviews as directed, under supervision of qualified lawyers.
  • Provide input to team strategy development and execution, and
  • Proactively identify opportunities for efficiency in the delivery of legal services.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to the development of content as directed, and

About you and your experience:

  • Working towards or having received a law degree or equivalent legal qualification, or Diploma or equivalent qualification in paralegal studies,
  • Basic understanding of or experience working within AI environments or the willingness to obtain it quickly
  • Experience working in a legal environment.
  • You see challenges and failures as opportunities.
  • You actively seek and learn from feedback.
  • You have a mindset of development, determination and opportunity.
  • Basic understanding of financial trading concepts, and
  • Basic understanding of governance requirements.
  • Understanding of the functions of a legal team,
  • Strong legal research skills,
  • Communication skills with the ability to listen, understand and modify positions to achieve mutually acceptable outcomes.
