In partnership with the University of Tasmania, UP Education is delivering a Foundation Studies Program at the UTAS Sandy Bay campus in Hobart. Job DescriptionAs an UP Foundation English teacher you will be responsible for the continuous improvement and delivery of the following units:
- XPD001 English 1: This is a core unit designed to improve students' knowledge and understanding of English language skills and techniques. The curriculum aligns with CEFR English proficiency B1.
- XPD002 English 2: This is a core unit that extends the learning and skills developed in English 1 within the context of Australian history and culture
- XPD003 English 3: This is a core unit designed to further improve students' knowledge and understanding of English language skills and techniques. The curriculum aligns with CEFR English proficiency B2.
The above 3 units comprise an 0.75 FTE role. There is also an opportunity for a suitable applicant to take on a 4th unit to bring the role to full-time:
- XPD013 Media Studies: This is an elective unit in which students develop knowledge and understanding of key theories and concepts relating to the study of mass communication in a historical, local and global perspective.
To teach English Units:
- English language teaching qualification
- 2 years ESL/EFL teaching experience
To teach Media Studies Units:
- A recognised Bachelors or Masters in a related field
- 2 years teaching experience or a recognised teaching qualification
