About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Peer Support/Mentor to join our team at Spread Your Wings Support SA Pty Ltd in Elizabeth & other surrounding areas. In this part-time role, you will provide personalised support and mentorship to individuals with disabilities, helping them achieve their personal goals and live independently.

What you'll be doing

  • Offer one-on-one peer support and mentorship to people with disabilities, drawing on your own lived experience
  • Assist clients in developing and working towards their personal goals, providing encouragement and guidance
  • Accompany clients to appointments, social activities and community engagement to build their confidence and independence
  • Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure they receive the services and support they are entitled to
  • Collaborate with the wider support team to develop and implement individualised support plans
  • Maintain detailed case notes and administrative records in line with organisational policies

What we're looking for

  • Personal experience of living with a disability or navigating the disability support system
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport
  • Empathy, patience and a genuine desire to empower and support others
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities
  • Knowledge of community services and support available for people with disabilities
  • A relevant qualification in community services, mental health or a related field is preferred
