About the Role

This role is responsible for providing mechanical engineering – building services expertise across all phases of a project, from the initial client inquiry through to project completion. The position involves contributing to the design, coordination, and delivery of high-quality engineering solutions while ensuring compliance with relevant standards, codes, and regulations.

The role requires close collaboration with other engineering disciplines, clients, consultants, local authorities, and statutory bodies. Key responsibilities include preparing design documentation and reports, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, conducting site inspections, and ensuring that all project outcomes meet Meinhardt's standards for quality, safety, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

General Operations & Technical Capability

  • Deliver discipline-specific engineering input across all project phases, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and legislation.
  • Assist with design, documentation, drafting, and coordination using standard procedures and CAD software.
  • Support Project Leaders and Managers through calculations, reports, tenders, and construction documentation.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and authorities to ensure technical quality and timely project delivery.
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and quality to achieve agreed outcomes and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Prepare accurate technical reports, proposals, and tender submissions in line with Meinhardt standards.
  • Coordinate sub-consultants and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project integration.

Knowledge Management

  • Share technical knowledge within the team and participate in internal workshops and meetings.
  • Stay up to date with relevant technologies, standards, and legislative changes.

Integrated Management System (IMS)

  • Adhere to Meinhardt's IMS, quality, and safety standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a safe working environment.

Professional Development

  • Attend training, seminars, and workshops to enhance technical and professional capability.

General

  • Complete timesheets accurately and on time.
  • Provide high-quality client service and contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in project delivery.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in mechanical engineering design (building services) of minimum 4 years, with a strong record of successful project delivery, problem-solving, and risk management.
  • Sound knowledge of sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective design principles and solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present technical data effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of technical reports and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time, priorities, and project deliverables in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Understanding of quality engineering consultancy practices, documentation standards, and coordination with other disciplines and sub-consultants.
  • Strong client service focus with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
  • Good project management, budgeting, and reporting skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry-standard design and drafting software.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Formal tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) with a minimum of 4+ years' industry experience.
  • Membership (or eligibility) with a recognised professional engineering body and registration (or eligibility) with the relevant state authority.
  • Current valid driver's licence.
