About Triple Zero Victoria

Triple Zero Victoria (TZV) provides the critical link between the Victorian community and the state's emergency services agencies. It provides Victoria's 24-hour emergency call-taking and dispatch services for Police, Fire, Ambulance and VICSES.

This integration of emergency services communications within Triple Zero Victoria is unique in Australia and rare worldwide. The team at Triple Zero Victoria are deeply committed to the community they serve and are among the most dedicated and highly skilled in their field.

About the Role

The Network Engineer, Security Operations is a key member and active participant of the Emergency Communication Information Services (ECIS) team and is a key technical subject matter expert in the Network team responsible for cyber security operations across the network and firewall infrastructure, including monitoring, analysing, and responding to security events and incidents in real time. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the security posture of the organisation by operating and maintaining network security platforms and tools, analysing threat intelligence and responding to threats, and ensuring the network infrastructure is compliant with security best practice and security policies and standards. This role works closely with architecture, operations, and security teams to ensure the reliability, performance, availability and security of all critical TZV network infrastructure, services and platforms.

This role will work as a hands-on systems network engineer with deep technical expertise in network infrastructure and security operations to design, build, maintain and support security platforms and security solutions across on-premise Data Centre infrastructure environments and hybrid-cloud architecture and Cloud environments.  You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate high technical competency, delivering mission critical network infrastructure and security operations engineering to ensure the highest levels of availability, performance, and security of the TZV network.

This role requires an experienced network security operations engineer with an innovative mindset who is detail-oriented and is an analytical thinker with a deep understanding of cyber threats, security operations, and risk management for designing, deploying, managing, and supporting network infrastructure and security solutions and platforms. This role offers an excellent career opportunity for individuals with a background in network and firewall engineering and cyber security operations experience in delivering collaborative solutions supporting a mission critical 24/7 emergency services environment.

As part of the TZV's ECIS team you may be required to travel or transfer between your primary work location and other TZV sites to effectively carry out your duties. Normal working hours are 38 hours per week between 7 am and 7 pm, Monday to Friday with a minimum 3 days on site requirement. You will be required to participate in an on-call roster and may be required to work reasonable overtime.

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Managing, monitoring and maintaining network security operations platforms and services across on-premise and Cloud environments.
  • Maintaining a highly available and secure environment, identifying and remediating performance availability and security risks within Cloud and Data Centre network infrastructure environments
  • Management, monitoring and operation of network security operations platforms and firewalls across VPN, Third Party and ESO Agency connectivity links and platforms
  • Management, monitoring and continuous improvement of network security across LAN, WAN, VPN and Cloud environments
  • Supporting the design, build and implementation or network security solutions and services that integrate seamlessly with Cloud and on-premise Data Centre systems, platforms and environments
  • Cyber security incident response activities, undertaking and completing investigations and analysis of all network and firewall security alerts, including identification of indications of compromise and assessing potential threats to develop security incident response plans
  • Active participation in IT Service Management and ITSM processes. Including IT and Cyber Incident Management, Problem, Change, Configuration and Asset Management, including participating in 24/7 support rosters

Executive and Senior Leadership are committed to empowering employees towards their professional and personal goals. Clarity of vision provided by a long-term ICT Strategy will enable clear role descriptions, variety of work and pathways for growth. With substantial transformation currently underway and more to come, you will have the chance to bring your eclectic experiences to shape the delivery models. The sector-wide remit, defined by a heavily integrated eco-system of technologies, whilst challenging, will present the opportunity to develop high quality networks and hone your craft in a fast-moving set up where high availability is paramount, facets that hold you in good stead for the future.
