We are looking for a passionate and skilled Service Technician to join our high-performing team at HMPS Propac. based in Heidelberg West.
This additional role has been created due to ongoing business growth and increasing demand from our customers. It's an exciting time to join the team and be part of our continued expansion across Australia.
If you enjoy working on complex machines, solving technical problems, and supporting customers across a range of industries, this is a great opportunity to be part of a team that values quality, innovation, and collaboration.
About the Role
As a Field Service Technician, you'll be responsible for servicing and supporting a range of packaging and automation equipment — including pallet wrappers, case packers, palletisers, and form fill seal machines. Your work will include breakdown response, fault finding, routine servicing, and machinery upgrades or installations.
You'll travel to customer sites (locally, regionally, and interstate) and be part of our journey toward continually improving processes, where your feedback is valued and supported by parts coordination and a strong in-house team.
What you'll be doing:
- Performing mechanical servicing and repairs on automated packaging equipment at customer sites
- Electrical fault finding and troubleshooting, with support to obtain a Restricted Electrical Licence if needed
- Responding to breakdowns and getting customers back up and running quickly and safely
- Conducting routine maintenance and preventative service visits
- Supporting equipment upgrades and installations as your experience grows
- Collaborating with internal teams to ensure jobs are completed efficiently
- Communicating clearly with customers and providing professional service reports and recommendations
What you'll bring:
- A mechanical trade qualification or extensive experience working on industrial machinery, ideally in packaging, automation, or manufacturing
- A solid understanding of electrical systems – ideally with a Disconnect/Reconnect Licence (or willingness to obtain)
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a strong commitment to safety
- Confidence working independently and engaging professionally with customers
- A current driver's licence and willingness to travel (a fully maintained vehicle is provided)
- Comfortable using mobile devices and job-tracking systems for reporting
We value diversity and are actively seeking technicians from all backgrounds. Whether you're returning to the workforce, seeking a new challenge, or looking for an inclusive workplace — we'd love to hear from you.
What We Offer:
- Variety and challenge – no two days are the same
- A company vehicle, tools, phone, and laptop
- Opportunities for paid overtime when available
- Support to obtain a Disconnect/Reconnect licence if not already held
- Ongoing technical development – including factory training, job shadowing, and exposure to electrical and automation systems
- Flexible working policies and supportive leave arrangements
- Financial support for study and external training
