About the opportunity

  • To be a member of the dynamic Mercy pastoral care team, providing respectful spiritual and emotional care to patients and families.

  • Be able to assess, triage and respond to diverse pastoral, spiritual and religious needs. Be flexible, adaptable, with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Engage collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic care and make referrals as needed.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Completed at least two Clinical Pastoral Education units, or equivalent supervised pastoral care training, and eligible for certified membership of Spiritual Care Australia (SCA).

  • Completed a Bachelor of Theology or relevant graduate qualifications

  • Previous experience providing spiritual care in a health setting and able to function as an Independent Practitioner (Level 2 SCA Capabilities Framework)

  • Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.

  • A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management.

  • The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
