Your next career opportunity
As the Manager of the Animal Care and Use Advisory Service, you'll lead a team of expert advisors to support continuous improvement of animal welfare and research ethics compliance in scientific research. You'll have the opportunity to provide crucial guidance to researchers and decision makers, and drive a positive compliance culture across the University's animal care and use program. Your role will be pivotal in fostering a culture of care and continuous improvement in animal-based research and teaching.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and Develop Expert Team: Manage, coach, and mentor staff to deliver high-quality, context-specific advisory, education, and compliance monitoring services.
- Drive Compliance and Continuous Improvement: Promote a Culture of Care and ensure adherence to relevant legislation and codes of practice.
- Provide Strategic Oversight: Direct projects, develop guidelines, and implement strategic initiatives.
- Analyse and Report on Risks: Monitor trends within the Animal Care and Use Program and conduct root cause analysis.
You may be a great fit if:
You are an experienced leader with a background in animal care and use, possessing excellent relationship management skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
You may also:
- Have a postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- Have excellent team management skills including coaching, training and change management.
- Possess knowledge of animal care and ethics regulations in research settings.
- Demonstrate outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Have experience in delivering strategic projects and developing new processes.
- Show ability to analyse complex situations and drive continuous improvement.
- Align with the COO values of University First, Service Excellence, and One Team.
