Senior Accounts Payable Officer – Finance & Treasury Focus

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounts Payable Officer to manage the full Accounts Payable function and take ownership of key financial responsibilities, including cash flow management, trade finance, international payments, and foreign exchange hedging. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is looking for a long-term career opportunity.


Key Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable Management

  • Lead end-to-end Accounts Payable function for the group.

  • Vendor creation and management in line with company policy.
  • Credit card Management.
  • Maintain Motor Vehicle Register and administer fuel cards, tolls, infringement notices, and insurance claims.
  • Maintain registers and schedules (licenses and permits, fixed assets, amortisation, prepayments, contractors & insurances).
  • Cash Flow & Treasury

o    Daily cash flow monitoring and forecasting.

o    Liaise with banks for funding and optimise working capital.

  • Trade Finance & International Payments

  • Maintain and manager FX register, bank guarantees, and other trade finance instruments.

o    Establish and manage international supplier payments efficiently, while adhering to foreign exchange regulations.

  • Management of Trade finance and liaise with financial institutions for import collection and payments.

  • Hedging & Risk Management

  • Implement and monitor foreign exchange hedging strategies.

  • Track currency exposures and report on hedge effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with management to mitigate FX risk.

· Month-End & Reporting

o    Maintain full accountability for the supplier ledger, ensuring integrity and accuracy including purchase clearing accounts.

o    Manage supplier claims and debit notes, resolving disputes promptly.

o    Reconcile underpayments, overpayments, and unapplied credits in a timely manner.

o    Investigate discrepancies in purchase clearing accounts and work with procurement to resolve mismatches before close.

o    Ensure compliance with internal policies and external reporting requirements.

· Leadership & Process Improvement

o    Identify bottlenecks and implement best practices.

o    Maintain strong vendor relationships and ensure clear communication

o    Act as the primary point of contact for suppliers and internal teams to resolve payment queries, claims, and reconciliation issues.

· Administration & Filing

o    Ensure all AP documents are filed accurately and securely.

o    Maintain organised records for audit and compliance purposes.

o    Implement and monitor document retention policies.
