We're a dynamic and growing family law firm with offices across Sydney. As we expand, we're looking for an experienced 
Senior Family Lawyer
 to help lead us through our next stage of growth.

This is a key senior position with requiring strong leadership, suited to an experienced lawyer with strong expertise in Family Law, including but not limited to the areas of divorce and separation, child custody and parenting, child support and spousal maintenance, property settlements, domestic and family violence matter.

Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, you'll:

  • Provide clear, practical, and empathetic advice to clients on a wide range of family law matters, including separation, divorce, parenting arrangements, property settlements, and financial agreements.
  • Prepare legal documents including affidavits, consent orders, binding financial agreements, and court applications.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and Family Court proceedings.
  • Brief and liaise with barristers where appropriate.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents
  • Manage your own matters autonomously, with strong attention to detail and client care
  • Mentor and support junior lawyers and contribute to team development
  • Stay up to date with developments in family law legislation, case law, and court procedures, ensuring advice remains accurate and compliant.
  • Work collaboratively with external professionals (such as counsellors, financial advisers, and child specialists) to achieve holistic client outcomes.
  • Assist clients in exploring alternative dispute resolution pathways to minimise conflict and achieve timely, cost-effective outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough file management and case records in accordance with professional and ethical standards.

This is a hands-on role that will suit a proactive, detail-oriented lawyer who combines empathy with strong commercial and technical acumen in Family Law matters.

To be successfully considered for this role you will have;

  • A minimum of 10 years PAE in Family Law (NSW-qualified)
  • Strong knowledge of the Family Law Act 1975
  • Proven experience representing clients in complex interim and final hearings, including cross-examination and briefing of counsel where appropriate.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong referral networks, contribute to firm growth, and enhance the firm's reputation in Family Law.
  • Commitment to the highest professional and ethical standards, with meticulous file management and compliance with Law Society guidelines.
  • Experience in mediation, arbitration, and collaborative law practices to achieve cost-effective, client-centred outcomes.
  • Exceptional drafting, advisory, and communication skills
  • Experience with complex and high-value estates or family provision claims is highly regarded
  • A client-focused mindset with a strong emotional intelligence and empathetic approach
  • Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience
