We are working with a highly regarded national firm with a growing tax practice in Sydney. The team advises multinational corporations, private businesses, start-ups, fund managers, investors, and high-net-worth individuals on complex and high-value matters.

The Team

The Sydney Tax team sits within the broader Corporate & Commercial practice and works across a wide range of industries. The practice covers M&A transactions, corporate group structuring, capital raisings, investment funds, bespoke tax planning, and disputes with revenue authorities at all stages of the dispute lifecycle.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to broaden your expertise across both front-end advisory and back-end disputes work.

As a Senior Associate, you will:

• Advise on the tax aspects of significant M&A and financing transactions
• Assist with the structuring and restructuring of corporate groups and investment vehicles
• Provide bespoke tax planning and advisory services
• Manage disputes with the ATO and state revenue authorities (rulings, audits, objections, litigation)
• Collaborate with colleagues and counsel while mentoring junior lawyers

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

• 4–8+ years' PAE
• Strong experience advising on M&A and financing arrangements
• Exposure to tax disputes is desirable, and significant experience in tax law is a must.
• Excellent technical and strategic skills
• Leadership qualities and a collaborative approach
