The Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Manager to oversee store operations and lead our team. This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for staff management, sales performance, supplier negotiations, financial oversight, and compliance with Australian retail and workplace regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily store operations to ensure smooth service, efficient workflows, and a high standard of customer experience across all departments.
  • Decide on the appropriate product mix for the store in line with customer demand and local community preferences, and manage day-to-day supplier orders to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries, resolve supply issues, and provide feedback to the Director on purchasing and pricing matters.
  • Coordinate and implement in-store promotions and merchandising activities provided by SupaBarn Group or the Director, ensuring displays, stock, and staff knowledge support sales initiatives.
  • Monitor inventory turnover, prepare store-level financial reports (including stock records, wage budgets, and expense tracking), and provide these to the Director for review.
  • Assist in preparing store budgets for wages and operating costs, and manage resources efficiently to stay within approved budget limits.
  • Recruit, train, roster, and supervise a workforce of 20+ employees , conduct performance reviews, and support staff development.
  • Oversee compliance with OH&S, food safety, and Fair Work obligations at store level; conduct regular safety checks, maintain compliance records, and ensure policies are followed by all staff.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or higher qualification in Management, Business, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a retail management or supervisory role.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, sales performance, and supplier negotiations.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Australian retail laws, workplace compliance, and food safety standards.
