Our menu celebrates native and locally sourced ingredients, offering a relaxed yet refined dining experience to museum visitors and locals alike.

The Role – Café Manager

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Cafe Manager to lead our front-of-house team and ensure the smooth daily operation of Epoch Café. This hands-on leadership role requires a proactive professional who can manage staff, maintain high service standards, and drive operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Operational Management

  • Oversee daily café operations, ensuring a smooth and efficient service flow.
  • Maintain high presentation and cleanliness standards across all service areas.
  • Monitor and control stock levels, ordering supplies through approved vendors.
  • Liaise with kitchen, health & safety, and museum teams to ensure seamless coordination.
  • Manage cash handling, banking, and reconciliation processes.
  • Maintain and update POS systems, menu pricing, and specials.

People & Leadership

  • Lead, train, and motivate the café team to deliver exceptional service.
  • Prepare and manage staff rosters and approve timesheets.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop front-of-house team members.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive team culture.

Customer Experience

  • Engage with customers to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to feedback or complaints.
  • Ensure team members are knowledgeable about the menu, specials, and museum offerings.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in café or restaurant management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health & safety standards.
  • Competency in POS systems, cash handling, and basic financial reporting.
  • A passion for local produce and high-quality hospitality.
  • Approved Managers Card
