About the role

We are looking for an Analyst - Mobile Equipment within the Global Mobile Equipment team in procurement.

This global role offers a unique opportunity to influence strategic sourcing and commercial outcomes across Rio Tinto's Mobile Equipment portfolio, including Heavy and Light Mobile Equipment, Technology, and Tyres with an annual spend exceeding US$2BN+. This role offers the opportunity to lead market intelligence efforts, support strategic OEM partnerships (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Toyota, Bridgestone, Michelin), execute high-value contracts, and drive data-led decision-making through advanced spend and pricing analysis, performance reporting, and supply chain forecasting.

Reporting to the Global Category Manager, Mobile Equipment, you will:

  • Lead market intelligence efforts across critical Mobile Equipment categories and OEMs to shape global commercial strategies.
  • Support global sourcing projects through the commercial evaluation, drafting and execution of high-value contracts.
  • Contribute to the management of Rio Tinto's strategic partnerships with global OEMs (e.g., XCMG, Komatsu, Caterpillar, Hitachi, Toyota, Bridgestone, Michelin).
  • Analyse complex supply chain data and pricing structures to inform commercial decisions, drive cost efficiency and improve spend optimization.
  • Develop performance dashboards and reporting tools to track cost savings, category spend, and supplier performance across business units.
  • Drive innovation and value creation by contributing fresh ideas and enhancing category capability across Rio Tinto's global operations.

What you'll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will ideally have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, finance, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of Rio Tinto's Category Management Cycle, policies, and governance frameworks.
  • Clear, professional communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • Proven commercial acumen with strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and Co-Pilot for impactful analysis and reporting.

Where you will be working

Rio Tinto Procurement (RTP) provides supply chain services that deliver value to the Rio Tinto Group through end to end Category Management (strategy, strategic sourcing, and buying of goods and services and strategic customer, supplier and market management). Playing a fundamental role, value is achieved through uniformed processes, e-technology, increased corporate social responsibility and measurable saving for the Group.

This role is Perth based, with flexible work arrangements as agreed with your leader. Some domestic travel may be required.
