About the Role

We're looking for a
Mechanical Design Engineer
to join our innovative product development team. You'll play a key role in taking new consumer products from concept through to production, combining creativity, technical excellence, and practical design-for-manufacture principles.

This is an exciting opportunity to design innovative products, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of designers, engineers, and manufacturers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical designs for new consumer products from initial concept through to production release.
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Apply design for manufacture (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles to ensure cost-effective and robust designs.
  • Collaborate closely with industrial designers, electronics engineers, and manufacturing partners.
  • Conduct tolerance analysis, material selection, and mechanical testing as required.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and validation activities.
  • Maintain accurate design documentation and participate in design reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for product improvement and innovation.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design for consumer products or similar industries.
  • Proven experience in Project Management.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks.
  • Strong understanding of DFM/DFA principles for injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, and assembly processes.
  • Experience with materials selection, tolerancing, and mechanical testing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for creative, functional design.
  • Experience with Rapid Prototyping.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with simulation tools.
  • Experience in Creo 3D software.
  • Experience working with suppliers and manufacturers in product development.
  • A portfolio showcasing previous consumer product designs.
