Position InformationWilton High School is a new secondary school being constructed in the Panorama Estate at Wilton, located at the junction of the Hume Motorway and Picton Road within the Wollondilly Shire. The school is scheduled to open Day 1, Term 1, 2027, to meet the needs of the rapidly growing local community. Due to the unique and complex nature of establishing a new school, the foundation Principal will commence on Day 1, Term 1, 2026, to lead all aspects of school establishment, including the recruitment of staff, development of school processes and culture, and collaboration with School Infrastructure NSW and key stakeholders to ensure successful delivery. This position will be classified at a P3 principal level.
The school will open in stages beginning with enrolments for Years 7-8 (to be confirmed). At opening, the school will include specialist teaching spaces and shared use of facilities with the new public school and public preschool being built alongside it, also due to open in 2027. Future stages will provide additional learning and core facilities, ultimately accommodating up to 1,000 students, with capacity for further expansion as demand grows.
Located on Dharawal Country, the school's design acknowledges its strong cultural connections, featuring the preservation of a significant grandmother scar tree on site. Wilton High School will be a contemporary, inclusive, and community-focused learning environment that reflects local values and the Department's commitment to excellence and equity in public education.
Selection CriteriaApproval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated ability to articulate and implement a clear vision for a new high school, with exceptional skills in human resource and financial management, and the capacity to work strategically with key stakeholders to build an inclusive, diverse, and future-focused learning community.
- Proven capacity to lead explicit teaching and other evidence-based practices, applying departmental processes to ensure every student can learn, grow, and belong.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a proven record of fostering authentic connections with families, local primary schools, external organisations, and the broader community to support student success, high expectation and a shared sense of belonging and purpose within the school community.
- A highly visible and approachable leader who builds positive school culture, motivates staff and students, and models adaptability, equity, and excellence in every aspect of school life
High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P3 for 2026.
