Your Role
To deliver operational and technical support to the Chubb Recoveries Team, ensuring adherence to Chubb's compliance and regulatory standards while managing a portfolio of subrogation and recovery matters across all lines of business.

Your Responsibilities

  • Coach and mentor junior recovery claim handlers in your technical field.
  • Handling/management of own portfolio of subrogation recovery claims for Chubb and/or other Chubb regional entities.
  • Effective communication/negotiation with third parties in order to maximize recovery results.
  • Efficient use of all Chubb systems ensuring all recovery information is readily available to other members of the Recoveries Team, Management and Referring Claim Office.
  • Seek technical assistance in handling recovery claims exceeding authority.
  • Maintain an active diary. Monitor same to achieve timely development of the file and timely disposition of the recovery claim.
  • Promptly and properly document all developments in the recovery claims system.
  • Where necessary, assist in helping with the collation of recovery data.
  • Effectively negotiate compromise settlements where appropriate.
  • Effectively communicate with the following:
  • Claim Department, Customer Services, Risk Control, Underwriting Departments, brokers, insureds, counsel, third parties and/or their legal representatives.
  • Adhere to Insurance Contracts Act and all other relevant statutory rules and regulations.
  • Effectively control the use, work product and expense of outside vendors.
  • Any other duties as required by the Recoveries Claims Manager.
  • Accountable for taking all practical measures to ensure that the workplace is safe and without risk to health.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the field of claims, across various lines of business and dedicated experience of recovery claims a clear advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of the insurance industry and international insurance business
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Good understanding of recovery analytics systems (desirable)
  • Analytical thinking and good numerical understanding.
  • Responsibility to develop, implement and achieve ambitious goals.
  • Written and verbal communication related to recovery claims handling.
  • Ability to lead the department on recovery through motivation and assertiveness.
  • Experience in dealing with international matrix structures and corresponding decision-making processes (desirable).
  • Tertiary qualified, preferred but not essential.
  • Familiar with the Marine Insurance Act & the Insurance Contracts Act.
  • Able to demonstrate effective case management.
