Position Information

Cabramatta High School is a comprehensive, coeducational high school located in South West Sydney. The school has a total student population of over 1550 students and includes an Intensive English Centre and Support Unit. 96% of students are from a language background other than English, with fifty-five cultural groups represented in the school. The school has a strong focus on academic excellence, collaborative practice, holistic education, wellbeing programs, innovative professional learning and community partnerships. The school has a collegial staff culture, and the executive team collectively leads whole school projects. The school and its community have a strong culture of high expectations in all learning areas.

The senior executive team includes four deputy principals - three deputy principals in the high school who each supervise a stage group and a deputy principal in the Intensive English Centre. All deputy principals have the responsibility of leading and evaluating school strategic directions.

Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria,

  • Demonstrated deep understanding of the complex curriculum, assessment and wellbeing needs of Stage 6 students with the ability to lead initiatives and processes that support staff, students and parents/carers in collaboration with the wider school community to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Proven high-impact leadership with strong communication, organisation and management skills in school operations, assets and resources within a large, complex and diverse school setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the design, development, implementation and evaluation of data-informed whole school programs to achieve strategic outcomes.
  • Proven capacity to work as a member of a dynamic and collaborative senior executive team in leading, implementing and monitoring activities aligned with the school's strategic directions, supporting the School Excellence Plan.
General Selection Criteria
  1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
