Your role
The Aboriginal Client Service Officer provides a broad range of applicant management services and advice to clients including those with complex support needs, advocates with stakeholders across the access service stream and within the community.
The role manages relationships, partnerships and networks between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and the Department to improve communication on and access to services for clients and to support sustainable tenancies.
What you'll do
You will be passionate about making a difference and delivering innovative solutions for people experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. You will have a strong customer focus and a commitment to person-centred, culturally sensitive client outcomes.
You will be working across a range of Housing programs, policies, and systems to maximise efficiency and service delivery outcomes as well as providing coaching and support to team members.
Working collaboratively with other Client Service Officers, Housing Managers and Team Leaders, including internal and external service providers, you may even assist in developing innovative strategies to deliver improved client outcomes and contribute to continual improvement in achieving key performance indicators for the district.

What we're looking for
- Ability to Work directly with clients and their advocates to provide advice and assistance on housing options based on assessment of eligibility and client need and in keeping with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
Demonstrate how to work collaboratively with internal specialists and external service providers and make referrals where additional support requirements are identified to better meet client needs.
Understand how to work respectfully with Elders, Community Leaders, and families with children in kinship care, and knowing when to report conflicts of interest around extended family.
Essential Requirements:
Possession of a minimum Provisional 2 NSW Driver's Licence and a willingness to travel to and work with clients in their home (a corporate vehicle will be provided for travel between office and clients home).
In addition to meeting the essential requirements, the successful candidate will have the following:
- Ability to work independently and manage your own work. Including working both independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
As an Identified role, this position is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons.

- is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
- identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
- is accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
