What will you be doingThe provision of traditional bank lending has declined as banks experience increased regulation, whilst demand for business funding continues to grow for the refinancing of existing debt and to fund growth.   

FIIG offers expertise in funding alternatives to traditional bank lending. 

DCM arranges long term, flexible AUD bond financing for rated and unrated Australian and New Zealand corporates.  DCM provides debt structuring expertise focused on optimising capital structures and diversifying sources of debt funding.  FIIG has a track record in significant fund raising capabilities, raising over $3.5bn in funding across the Corporate, Financial, Property and Infrastructure sectors. 

The Director, Debt Capital Markets (DCM) is a broad role, responsible for the origination, structuring, execution and management of bond issues across a diverse range of industry sub-sectors.   

The role balances the key objectives of strong debt origination with prudent and well considered debt structuring, execution and ongoing issuer coverage / relationship management across Debt Capital Markets.  

This role is based in Sydney and will see you:  

Relationship Management

  • Market FIIG's products and services to existing and target clients

  • Business development including client calls, marketing pitches and industry events

  • Prepare marketing materials to support origination activities

  • Maintain relationships with clients, targets, investors and market participants

Credit Assessment

  • Analysis of credit risks, assessment of industry drivers, business performance, capital structure, benchmarking and metrics

  • Deal structuring, drafting and negotiation of term sheets and mandate letters

  • Preparing credit assessment papers for approval

  • Assist Research in credit review process, including pre-issue due diligence

  • Monitoring of issuer performance

Deal Execution & Management

  • Transaction management and compliance with credit policy and procedures

  • Instructing solicitors to produce required legal documentation including the bond offer information memorandum Preparing bond offer and loan marketing material

  • Presenting bond offer and other debt opportunities to the Private Client and Institutional Sales team and prospective investors

  • Deal sourcing, marketing and business development, early stage analytical and financial modelling, negotiation and deal structuring of appropriate debt transactions with security packages commensurate with risk and return hurdles

  • Research industries, companies and develop strategies for potential investment opportunities

  • Conduct independent fundamental credit analysis, due diligence and approval of new transaction opportunities

  • Drive the investment evaluation process including attendance at management presentations, review of due diligence reports, and preparation of internal investment proposals and information memorandums

  • Work closely with colleagues in DCM and the FIIG Syndicate Desk regarding marketing, fundraising and syndication to investors post credit committee approvals being secured

  • Negotiate and review transaction legal documentation and liaise with internal and external legal advisers

  • Undertake portfolio assessment / monitoring (including risk), applying an anticipatory standard and provide portfolio reports and analytics for internal and external use

  • Adhere to investment process and operational standards

  • Work with functional teams to deliver strategic, business and client objectives

About you

To be considered for this key role, you will have experience in: 

Skills / Systems

  • Demonstrated Credit, Analytical, financial modelling and deal structuring skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Word

  • CRM systems

Qualifications / Experience

  • Preference for 10 years+ experience in bond and /or loan markets with a financial institution with direct lending or debt advisory experience

  • Deal experience in a broad range of sectors and debt markets possibly including Australian middle market corporates, structured lending, project finance and property

  • Cash flow lending experience including high yield credit experience an advantage

  • Track record of originating, structuring and executing debt finance transactions

  • Experience in conducting due diligence on businesses to recommend suitable debt structures.

  • Degree in commerce, economics, business, finance, law or other relevant disciplines

  • Preference for a post-graduate or professional qualification (CA or CFA).
