About Us

We're Ontico Patisserie – a Korean-style cake shop with 2 retail locations and a thriving online presence in Sydney. We're known for our commitment to natural, premium ingredients and creating cakes that taste as good as they look.

We've built a strong foundation with loyal customers who love our cakes. Now we're ready to tell our story to a wider audience through social media. We're looking for someone who can capture what makes our cakes special and share that with Sydney (and beyond).

That's where you come in.

What We're Looking For

Someone who can look at our beautiful cakes and think "I know exactly how to make this pop on Instagram" or "This would make an amazing Reel"

You'll be managing content across:

• Instagram (this is the big one)
• TikTok
• Facebook
• Red Note/小红书 (for our Chinese-speaking community)

We care more about quality than quantity. One scroll-stopping Reel that gets 50k views beats five forgettable posts any day. That said, consistency matters too – we'll work together to find the right balance and posting schedule that drives real results.

Your Day-to-Day

Making Content (most of your time)

• Pop into our stores 2-3 times a week to shoot fresh content
• Catch those "just out of the oven" moments, beautiful cake reveals, happy customers
• Create Reels and TikToks that people actually want to watch
• Edit everything on your phone and get it posted same day

Managing Everything

• Plan out what we're posting each week
• Schedule posts so we're consistent
• Reply to comments and DMs (we actually care about our customers)
• Keep an eye on what's working and what's not

Tracking Success

• Watch the numbers (followers, engagement, website clicks)
• Tell us what's working with a monthly report
• Stay ahead of trends (what's hot on TikTok this week?)

What You Need to Have

Skills we'll actually need:

• You can shoot professional-looking photos and videos on your phone (no fancy camera needed)
• You know your way around CapCut, InShot, or similar editing apps
• You understand how Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook work (algorithms, best posting times, that stuff)
• You can write captions that aren't boring
• Basic design skills (Canva-level is totally fine)

Experience that matters:

• You've grown social media accounts before
• You've actually created content yourself, not just told others what to create
• You're comfortable making Reels and TikToks
• You know how to make food look irresistible on camera

Your work style:

• You don't need someone looking over your shoulder all day
• You're quick – can shoot, edit, and post within a few hours
• You have good taste and keep up with design trends
• You genuinely love social media
• You work well on your own but play nice with our team

Extra Points (Not Required)

These would be awesome but aren't dealbreakers:

• Experience with cafés, bakeries, or food businesses
• You speak Mandarin (huge help for Red Note)
• You've used Meta Business Suite and Instagram Insights
• You're handy with Photoshop or Lightroom
• You've worked with influencers before
• You know Sydney's food scene
• You've dabbled in paid social media ads

What's In It For You

Compensation:

• Part-time hrs/week): $32-42/hour depending on your experience
• If you start part-time and things are going great, we'd love to talk about full-time after 3 months

How It Works:

• Come to our stores 2-3 days a week to create content
• Work from home the rest of the time for editing and planning
• Both our locations are in inner Sydney (you'll need to access both)

Real Talk – This Might Not Be For You If:

• You need someone telling you what to do every step of the way
• You want a typical 9-5 office job (cakes don't follow a schedule)
• You think managing social media is easy and "anyone can do it"
• You're not ready to commit to creating quality content consistently
• You've only ever managed social media, never actually created the content yourself

• A Google Drive/Dropbox folder with 5-8 of your best video/photo examples (include a quick note about each one – what was the goal, what worked well)

• Why would you be great at running a cake shop's social media?
• What's your favourite bakery or food Instagram account? What do they do well?
• If you started tomorrow, what's one trend or idea you'd try right away?

Quick FAQs

"Can I work from home all the time?" Nope, sorry. You need to be in our stores 2-3 times a week to shoot fresh content. The rest of the time you can work wherever you want

"I've never worked for a food business, is that okay?" Totally fine If your portfolio shows you can create great content and you have an eye for aesthetics, that's what matters.

"Do I need a professional camera?" Not at all. If you can create professional-looking content on your phone, that's perfect.

"I don't speak Chinese, should I still apply?" Yes Just let us know in your application. We can figure out Red Note support separately.
