Service Technician - Locomotive Maintenance

Location: Nebo, Regional QLD

Employment Type\: Permanent, Full-Time

Roster: 7/7 rotating roster (Days, Afternoons, Nights hour shifts)

Rate of Pay\: In accordance with our EA

About the Role

Join UGL at our Locomotive Maintenance Facility in Nebo, where we are looking for experienced Service Technicians to perform complex mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting on locomotives and rolling stock. This is a fantastic opportunity for those seeking a permanent role in a dynamic and technically challenging environment.  This role is based in NEBO and not a FIFO role

Key Responsibilities:

· Perform scheduled maintenance on locomotives and rolling stock.

· Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, ensuring safety and efficiency.

· Verify the integrity of the rolling stock and perform emergency response duties when needed.

· Conduct inbound and outbound testing procedures.

· Requisition materials and components for maintenance activities.

· Report future maintenance work and potential improvements.

· Assist the Fleet Supervisor with any additional tasks as required.

About You:

· Mechanical Trade qualified, with hands-on experience in a related field.

· Proven ability to resolve complex mechanical, warranty, and maintenance issues.

· Previous experience working with diesel engines, particularly in a rail or heavy machinery environment.

· Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM) lists.

· Capable of working independently, managing time effectively, and prioritizing multiple tasks.

· Proficient in using MS Word, Excel, and email.

Relocation and FIFO/DIDO Options:

UGL offers camp accommodation and meals, however costs to get to and from would be at your own expense. The two options are – (DIDO) drive-in drive-out and FIFO (Fly-In Fly-Out), accommodation and meals will be provided on-site during your roster.
