About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to lead the financial management function of our growing Australian-based medical company. Reporting directly to the Director, this pivotal role is responsible for the overall financial health of the organisation, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, strategic planning support, and operational efficiency.

You'll be joining a purpose-driven company committed to improving healthcare outcomes through innovation, service excellence, and trusted care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage day-to-day financial operations, including month-end close, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cash flow.

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB).

  • Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes in collaboration with departmental heads.

  • Deliver meaningful financial reports and analysis to support business performance and strategic decision-making.

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements (e.g., BAS, GST, FBT, PAYG, Superannuation).

  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.

  • Identify process improvements to streamline reporting and enhance internal controls.

  • Contribute to business growth initiatives by providing financial insight and commercial recommendations.

  • Support the Director and executive team with strategic financial modelling, scenario analysis, and investment planning.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (CPA or CA qualified ideal).

  • 5 years of experience in a senior finance or controller-level role, ideally within the healthcare, medical, or life sciences sector.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and familiarity with Australian taxation and compliance obligations.

  • Experience with accounting systems such as MYOB, Xero, or ERP platforms (e.g., NetSuite, SAP).

  • Proven ability to lead and develop small finance teams.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing deadlines.
