Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a leader in Indigenous Australian student success to join QUT as Director, Oodgeroo Unit and advance Indigenous Australian excellence and student success across the university.
As Director, you'll have a role to play in shaping our vision for Indigenous Australian higher education while leading a culturally strong team, and oversee delivery of programs that strengthen pathways, retention and achievement for Indigenous Australian students.
Working in partnership with faculties, communities and key stakeholders, you will provide expertise and strategic guidance on Indigenous Australian student matters, while fostering culturally safe and empowering spaces for learning and success.

The Oodgeroo Unit is QUT's Indigenous Australian student success centre, dedicated to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students on their higher education journey.
We deliver tailored programs, academic and cultural support, and a strong community presence across QUT's Kelvin Grove and Gardens Point campuses. Guided by respect for Indigenous knowledges and cultures, we create culturally safe spaces that empower students to succeed and thrive.
What you need to succeed
- Education, training and/or experienceequivalent to postgraduate qualificationswith extensive relevant managerialexperience.
- Demonstrated success in leading anIndigenous Australian team to create ahigh-performance service culture deliveringquality outcomes for Indigenous students.
- Demonstrated ability to manage effectivelyand efficiently the human, physical,technological and financial resourceswithin a large complex organisation.
- Proven ability to communicate effectivelyand build strategic collaborativepartnerships across organisational areasand within the Indigenous community toachieve desired outcomes.
- Demonstrated expertise in IndigenousAustralian cultural services and studentacademic and pastoral support informed bycomprehensive knowledge andunderstanding of relevant policy, trendsand initiates in higher education.
- Experience in using data to plan, develop,implement and evaluate programs thatsupport student success.
