About the role

As a multi-site Pentecostal Church, we are seeking an Experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Warana, QLD.

As a permanent part-time Senior Bookkeeper, you will play a crucial role working alongside our Business Manager in finance administration and maintaining of financial records ensuring the smooth day to day running of our financial operations.

What you'll be doing

  • Perform comprehensive bookkeeping duties, including data entry, invoicing, bank reconciliations, budget reporting and managing accounts payable and receivable.
  • Prepare and submit Business Activity Statements (BAS) and other tax-related documents.
  • Staff payroll and wages
  • Provide financial reports to Church Board

  • Maintain Insurances

  • Assist with month-end and year-end closings, as well as the production of financial reports for audit submission.

  • Provide administrative support to the Business Manager, including filing, document management, and congregational correspondence.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all relevant Australian accounting standards and regulations.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in senior bookkeeping
  • Strong proficiency in using accounting software - Xero & Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate financial records
  • Solid understanding of Australian accounting principles, taxation, and compliance requirements (not-for-profit experience desirable).
  • Excellent communication, with the ability to work collaboratively
  • Strong problem-solving, with a proactive approach to decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively

What we offer

We are committed to providing our team with a supportive and rewarding work environment. This position is permanent part time, working 2.5-3 days per week (candidate dependent) across Mon-Thurs (office closed on Fridays).
