Operations Manager – Premium Skincare Importer & Distributor - Melbourne
We are a leading Australian importer and distributor of prestige skincare products, supplying professional beauty and medical clinics nationwide. With strong growth and expansion underway, we are seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to take ownership of business workflows, lead staff with clarity and accountability, and ensure the seamless running of our operations.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Directors, you will be responsible for controlling workflows, driving team performance, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high standard. You will oversee both in-house operations and our remote sales team, setting clear expectations while providing the leadership and mentoring required to achieve results.
This is a proactive role for someone who thrives on anticipating needs, solving problems before they arise, and aligning people and processes to deliver business goals. You will also liaise with external providers - such as our social media agency, SEO consultants, and offshore Virtual Assistant - to ensure consistency and accountability across all functions.
While operations leadership is the core focus, you will also provide strategic input to the directors and the marketing team to help guide planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and hold accountable both in-house and remote staff.
- Drive performance and structured reporting within the remote sales team.
- Oversee daily operational functions, ensuring smooth workflows and timely delivery.
- Implement systems and processes that enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Manage performance conversations, including addressing underperformance.
- Act as key liaison with external consultants, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Provide strategic insights to directors and support cross-departmental planning.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in operations, general management, or sales leadership (distribution/FMCG and beauty/aesthetics/medical spa experience highly regarded).
- Strong people leadership with the ability to coach, motivate, and enforce accountability.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to anticipate issues before they escalate.
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and refine operational systems.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with commercial acumen.
- Confident communicator able to influence and engage staff, directors, and external partners.
- Comfortable managing remote teams and outsourced consultants.
