Pre-Prep Educator

Townsville Grammar School is one of the original Grammar Schools of Queensland. The Year 7-12 campus is located on the original site at North Ward. The School also operates two Junior School campuses, both offering Pre-Prep to Year 6, at Annandale and North Shore.

Townsville Grammar School is a co-educational, non-denominational School with a current enrolment of approximately 1395 students, including 120 boarders (7-12), of whom approximately 25 are international students.

As one of the eight original Grammar schools in Queensland, Townsville Grammar School was established in 1888 and has offered boarding since this time. The School has a long-standing reputation as the leading academic school in Northern Queensland, also offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for Years 11 and 12. 

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Pre-Prep Educator (Diploma qualified) and an Assistant Director/Educator to join the Early Education team at our North Shore centre. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a warm, supportive and professional environment where the care, safety, and learning of children are at the heart of everything we do.

About the Roles:

As a Pre-Prep Educator, you will:

• Assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the daily program, in consultation with the teacher.
• Assist in planning and preparing the environment, setting up the learning areas, preparing and clearing away materials and supplies.
• Create a friendly, secure, stimulating and interactive learning environment for children at all times.
• Implement the program in a flexible manner that is compatible with the child's needs and interests.

As Assistant Director, you will:

• Support the Director in coordinating and managing the daily operations of the Centre, and step into a leadership role in their absence.
• Assist with the planning, implementation and evaluation of play-based learning programs aligned with the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG) and the School's ethos.
• Build respectful and nurturing relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Ensure the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children, and contribute to the development and implementation of the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
• Provide guidance and professional support to staff, fostering a collaborative and positive team culture.

What we're looking for:

• A minimum Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (Bachelor level qualifications will be highly regarded).
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG) and the National Quality Standards (NQS).
• Leadership skills with the ability to support and mentor staff and coordinate daily operations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong focus on building partnerships with families.
• Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification.
• Current training in Child Protection. 
• A valid Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and commitment to child safety.
