As a Careers Advisor, your role will involve the provision and development of excellent customer service to individual clients, service providers, industry and businesses that access the skills and job services centre. Guiding and advising clients based on the individual's needs in a positive professional manner contributing to a first-class customer experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Build networks and maintain effective relationships to collaborate with external stakeholders including community organisations, employers, local industry, other government departments and other skills and job centres.

  • Liaise with SuniTAFE staff to provide best practice customer service and positive outcomes.

  • Coordinate and attend events within the community/industry and at secondary schools, providing information and guidance to potential students.

  • Develop and deliver workshops on job readiness/job search support services to unemployed job seekers and SuniTAFE students.

  • Maintain up to date resources and be fully aware of current online job seeker website, employment market trends and facilitate positive outcomes.

  • Identify and provide career development to clients with special needs or those considered educationally/vocationally at risk.

  • Act in accordance with SuniTAFE values – relationships, Integrity, Accountable and Improvement and the Code of Conduct.

Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Certificate IV level qualification and/or willingness to obtain.

  • Ability to coordinate the delivery of career advice and guidance to a board range of clientele and specific special needs groups and a commitment to support individual clients with vocational training, career advice and support.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and liaise with a diverse cohort of stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of VET sector and SuniTAFE policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prepare written reports, case studies and analyse data.

  • Demonstrated customer service focus with the ability to take initiative to resolve proven and issues within bounds of delegate authority.

The successful candidate will be required to provide:


• A successful criminal record check which is less than 6 months old.

• A working with children check.

This position is open to Australian residents only or those with current working rights in Australia.
