Role Overview
The Managed Services Engineer will play a key role in delivering high-quality support and project services to Kytec's managed services clients. This role requires strong Cisco networking expertise and a proven ability to manage complex environments within an MSP setting. A current CCNP certification is highly regarded, reflecting advanced knowledge in routing, switching, and enterprise networking.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide L2/L3 technical support for client environments, with a primary focus on Cisco networking (routing, switching, SD-WAN, wireless, firewalls).
- Proactively monitor, maintain, and optimise client networks to ensure reliability, performance, and security.
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex incidents, escalating to vendors as required.
- Contribute to the delivery of network projects, migrations, and upgrades across Cisco and Meraki solutions.
- Collaborate with the Service Desk and other engineers to ensure timely resolution of client issues.
- Document technical solutions, changes, and incident resolutions to support knowledge management.
- Participate in an on-call roster to provide after-hours support as required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Cisco technologies, industry trends, and security best practices.
Skills & Experience
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
- 5+ years' experience in network engineering, preferably within a managed services environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco routing, switching, wireless, and firewalls.
- Experience with Cisco Meraki, SD-WAN, FTD/ASA and network security solutions such as Cisco Umbrella.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure networking and Office 365 connectivity is beneficial.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices for incident, problem, and change management.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
