The Company

Robert Half Executive Search has been exclusively retained to identify an accomplished finance leader for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position with a growing Australian B2C E-commerce business undergoing a period of transition. The company operates out of a vibrant and modern inner Melbourne office and offers hybrid flexible working (3 Days in Office) and free parking for the incoming CFO.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO and Board, the CFO is expected to play a pivotal role within the business beyond just financial and operational management. The CFO will closely collaborate with the rest of the Senior Leadership Team to help shape strategy to ensure a sustainable and profitable growth trajectory for the firm.

The CFO will be responsible for the active management of all finance functions including financial and management reporting, FP&A, cashflow forecasting and budgeting and tax with a focus on the improvement of financial processes and systems.

As a growing medium sized business, the close management of costs and cashflow is of paramount importance, with the incoming CFO expected to be into the detail and well-versed at creating and preparing integrated 3-way cashflow forecasting models.

Your Profile

The ideal candidate is a qualified (CA or CPA) with a solid grounding in all technical finance and accounting matters gained ideally within a Big 4 or Top 20 accounting firm.
Immediately available
individuals who have recently held a CFO (or a comparable 'Head of Finance' position) in an e-commerce retail SMB or a scaling business unit within a larger firm are strongly encouraged to apply.

Leading a small and tight knit finance team, success in this role will require a proven ability to regularly context shift between the detailed and the strategic, effectively stewarding the day-to-day finance activities of the business, managing cashflow closely as well as regularly and comfortably interacting at Board level.

Competencies Sought

  • E-Commerce, Retail, FMCG, Manufacturing or other Technology-Enabled growth business exposure.
  • Scaling business / business unit financial leadership experience.
  • Recent experience creating and preparing integrated 3-way cashflow forecasting models.
  • Understanding of complex technical accounting matters.
  • Understanding of Inventory.
  • Process improvement and financial systems expertise.
  • Founder-led / PE backed growing business exposure an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, able to convey complex ideas simply.
  • A 'player-coach' approach, able to build and lead a high-performing finance team.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
