Kennedys is seeking an Associate to join our expanding casualty practice in Melbourne, working directly with specialist Partner, Michael Kavanagh. In this role, you will manage a varied caseload of casualty, product & public liability matters, property damage and Victorian WorkCover recovery claims.

This is an opportunity for an experienced lawyer to develop their career working for a reputable global law firm. We are looking for a candidate who is a team player, can develop and maintain excellent client relationships and is keen to be involved in marketing/business development and client training activities.

Types Of Matters
You'll manage a diverse portfolio of high-quality work for London market syndicates and leading domestic and international insurers, including:

  • Casualty work
  • Worker claims and Victorian WorkCover Authority recovery claims
  • Product and public liability claims
  • Property damage claims
  • Policy response advice

About You

  • 2 years + defendant litigation experience with a focus on casualty claims
  • Experience in property damage and Victorian WorkCover claims (desirable but not essential)
  • Proven ability to manage your own caseload with minimal supervision
  • Strong technical knowledge of Australian personal injury law
  • Excellent communication skills and client-facing confidence
  • A collaborative approach and genuine interest in business development
  • Strong academic credentials
