Our client is a leading Australian Independent firm with a top-tier quality construction practice.

The Role

Due to growth the Construction team are looking to appoint a 2-5 year construction litigation lawyer. This role will see you reporting to leading construction partner and working with a larger wider team of 10 lawyers.

Their clients are made up of tier 1 and Tier 2 developers, contractors and large corporate entities. Our client pays above market remuneration, on par with top tier and international firms.

Responsibilities:

  • Working on a broad range of construction disputes and arbitration matters, including those arising under major project, EPC, design and construct, and consultancy agreements. Disputes will include variations, extensions of time, delay and disruption claims, defect rectification matters and security of payment disputes.
  • You will be involved with drafting witness statements, submissions, pleading and coordinating evidence and assist with negotiation and settlement of disputes,
    including participation in mediations, expert determinations, and other alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • You will Liaise with counsel, experts, and consultants to develop case strategy and prepare for hearings, mediations, and arbitrations.

Ideal candidate

You will have at least 2 years PQE from a construction litigation practice in Australia. Ideally you have been in a specialist construction practice, however, our client will consider insurance litigation lawyers with a strong construction/engineering practice in the professional indemnity space.

You will have an enthusiastic attitude towards construction matters and be a strong team player. You will have a proven ability to manage deadlines and stress.

You will have a strong academic transcript.
