About the role

As the Purchasing Officer, you'll be responsible for ensuring the seamless procurement of stock items and equipment essential to the running of our facilities. You'll research, source, and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services, keeping our operations moving and our residents supported.

This is a hands-on role requiring initiative, attention to detail, and strong coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Role Requirements: 3 days per week, either Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday or Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm.

Key responsibilities

  • Research and source suppliers for stock items and equipment.
  • Liaise with vendors to manage the purchase and timely delivery of goods.
  • Obtain competitive quotes to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
  • Ensure purchase requests are approved at the appropriate management level.
  • Communicate changes to purchasing processes effectively across the business.
  • Receipt new deliveries and certify invoices for payment.
  • Maintain Capecare's Asset Register and Contracts Register.
  • Coordinate warranty claims, repairs, and maintenance with suppliers and contractors.
  • Support process improvements in procurement and purchasing.
  • Assist the property team with general administrative tasks.
  • Contribute to additional tasks and projects as required.

About you

You are an organised, proactive, and solutions-focused Purchasing Officer, with a natural ability to build strong supplier relationships. You thrive in a structured role that requires accuracy, clear communication, and a keen eye for process improvement.

What you'll bring

  • Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply coordination.
  • Ability to work within a high-volume transaction and diverse business environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple suppliers at one time with a strong focus on high service delivery standards.
  • Previous experience in purchasing in an aged care environment would be desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing systems.
