The Project
Genus is proud to be delivering a transformative infrastructure project as part of the Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone (REZ)—one of the first five REZs being developed by the NSW Government. In partnership with Ausgrid, Genus has been awarded a major contract to lead the sub-transmission line works that will power the future of clean energy in New South Wales.
This is a rare opportunity to contribute to a $140 million infrastructure initiative that will enable over 1 gigawatt of renewable energy to connect to the grid, supporting Australia's clean energy transition and leaving a lasting legacy. Demolition of 66kV sub-transmission lines to make way for modern infrastructure Construction of over 100 km of new 132kV dual/single circuit sub-transmission lines Installation of advanced optical ground wire and fibre optic cable systems A multi-year delivery program running through to 2028
The Role
Genus is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our team in NSW, who will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of the project. Wil be responsible for overseeing various aspects of project execution, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that project objectives are achieved safely, on time, and within budget. From planning and design to construction and handover, the Project Engineer will provide technical expertise, leadership, and coordination to drive project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all quality and environmental aspects of the project are identified and addressed to maintain effective operation and project delivery.
 - Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary to support responsible decisions and courses of action for the construction of renewable infrastructure projects.
 - Provide support and advice on planning and design suitability and options, the use of materials, resources, components or systems within the project, and construction practices and problems to ensure project success and best practice are achieved.
 - Manage the operational aspects of project delivery to ensure the effective and efficient use of systems and processes involved with all phases of the project management model.
 - Liaise and oversee subcontractors, consultants and suppliers work in accordance with contract requirements ensuring high performance in terms of time, cost and quality.
 - Proactively manage any community and environmental issues and effective liaison with affected external stakeholders.
 - Prepare project status reports and change orders.
 
Experience/Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical or electrical engineering.
 - 1-3 years on site experience delivering Substations/Aerial Powerlines/Underground feeder installation.
 - Familiar with Network Service Provider Standards & Portals.
 - Can utilise AutoCAD & associated Design Software.
 - Confident with Microsoft Software Packages.
 - Be able to engage in positive upstream/downstream stakeholder communication.
 - Willing to travel between sites as per project requirements.
 - Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent.
 - Demonstrated track record of successful project delivery, including managing budgets, schedules, and resources.
 - Experience in stakeholder engagement, risk management, and quality assurance processes.
