The Department of Education is seeking experienced, passionate, and evidence driven leaders to join our Student Wellbeing Support directorate as a Behaviour Specialist Professional Practice. We are excited to announce an opening for a Behaviour Specialist Professional Practice positions within our Student Wellbeing Support directorate.

• Location: Specific locations listed in 'About the role'  

• Required to work four (4) days per week either in an identified education office location or delivering face to face support in schools.

• Salary: Clerk Grade 11/12 with base salary ranging from $149,739 to $173,174 per annum, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

• Temporary full-time opportunity up to three (3) years.

About the Student Wellbeing Support Directorate

Student Wellbeing Support provide direct support to schools to strengthen accessible and inclusive education practice to maximise wellbeing and learning for students in NSW public schools. The Student Wellbeing Support directorate includes four Student Wellbeing Support groups that service our schools across various principal networks. Student Wellbeing Support advances equitable outcomes through outcomes focused programs, systems, and processes.

Schools access our support through the one-call, Team Around a School model. The Team Around a School helps school teams to improve student learning and wellbeing practices and strengthens school and staff initiatives across the care continuum. We are a key enabler of the department's Plan for Public Education and are committed to ensuring we provide support to schools that is efficient, effective, and easy to access.

About the role

The Behaviour Specialist Professional Practice role works as part of Team Around a School managing and coordinating high quality, evidence based behavioural interventions and strategies to support principals and school staff in public schools across NSW.

The role provides leadership and professional support to a team of behaviour specialist practitioners to ensure evidence based quality professional practice and service provision to public schools across NSW as part of the broader behaviour specialist team.

About you

A confident leader and expert in behaviour support, you bring strong people management skills, deep professional insight, and a passion for educational equity. You're resilient, resourceful, and ready to support change at scale.

Key knowledge and experience:

• Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements:

• Tertiary qualifications and extensive experience in a field relevant to behaviour support provision to children and young people. This could include, but is not limited to, speech therapy, occupational therapy, social work and autism. 

• Experience in leading/supervising a team to support children and young people

• Hold a current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) for paid employment (or willing to acquire one) 

• Current and valid driver's licence and willingness to travel statewide.

• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education
