- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $109,102 to $120,542 + superannuation + leave loading.

About the Role
As theProject Officer - Threatened Species Assessment, you'll play a key role in shaping conservation outcomes across NSW. You'll prepare scientific nominations for threatened species and ecological communities, supporting their listing under the
NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016
. Your work will directly inform decisions made by the NSW Threatened Species Scientific Committee and contribute to national consistency through Intergovernmental Agreement on a Common Assessment Method for the Listing of threatened species and threatened ecological communities
About You
You're a detail-driven conservation professional with a passion for ecology and biodiversity and a talent for scientific analysis and scientific writing. You know how to work with complex ecological data and translate it into clear, evidence-based recommendations.
Your strengths include:
- Conservation science expertise
and a solid understanding of ecological principles and datasets used in species and community conservation assessments. - Advanced research and analytical skills
, with the ability to interpret incomplete or complex data and produce high-quality scientific writing. - Strong communication and collaboration skills
, enabling you to engage with experts, stakeholders, and decision-makers to gather insights and deliver robust advice. - Scientific rigour
, ensuring your work meets high standards and supports strategic conservation goals.
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in environmental science or in a relevant natural resource discipline.

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water(DCCEEW) works to protect the state's environment and heritage. It leads the way on climate change, driving the sustainable transition to a net zero economy, powered by affordable, reliable, and clean energy.
DCCEEW conserves and protects the state's natural environment. It manages the NSW national park estate, including its rich and diverse biodiversity and Aboriginal cultural heritage for future generations. DCCEEW also ensures sustainable management of water resources across the state, to support the environment, communities and industry.
