About the opportunity:
As a Casual Worker at Launch Housing, you'll play a key role in providing safe, stable and welcoming environments across our 24/7 residential and crisis accommodation sites. You'll work with people and families experiencing homelessness, ensuring day-to-day operations run smoothly while responding to incidents, maintaining security, and supporting residents with care and respect.
This flexible role offers the opportunity to work across multiple sites, including youth foyers, family crisis accommodation, women's services and health-focused housing. Shifts are available across days, evenings, weekends and overnights, giving you a variety of experiences across our programs. We have both SCHADS 3 and SCHADS 4 positions available.
We're looking for compassionate, adaptable and reliable people who can work within established frameworks and contribute to positive client outcomes. You'll use sound judgement, maintain accurate records, and be part of a team dedicated to empowering people to achieve their housing and personal goals.
What you'll be doing:
- Conduct site-based assessments that consider the complex and intersecting challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness, including mental health concerns, substance use, trauma, family violence, and systemic barriers to housing and healthcare.
- Identify, prioritise, and communicate support needs to enable effective case coordination
- Conduct risk assessments to evaluate the level of risk to the individual, self, staff or others across domains such as personal safety, MARAM, mental health, alcohol and other drugs (AOD), and other relevant frameworks.
- Collaboratively develop and implement safety plans to mitigate identified risks
- Recognise and escalate situations involving unacceptable risk to individuals or staff by reporting to management.
- Provide support that empowers individuals to pursue opportunities and achieve their housing and personal goals.
- Deliver practical assistance that supports daily living and promotes independence.
- Advocate on behalf of individuals with internal and external services and stakeholders.
- Apply relevant policies, procedures, and legal frameworks, ensuring privacy, confidentiality, and informed consent are upheld.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation using relevant systems.
- Facilitate recreational and wellbeing activities that contribute to a positive living environment.
- Undertake administrative tasks that support the effective operation of the site
- Deliver a welcoming, efficient, and client-centred front-of-house experience by overseeing front of house responsibilities
- Respond to building maintenance issues as they arise and report them through appropriate channels to ensure timely resolution
