Primary, Early Childhood and Education Support (PECES) are seeking to establish a pool of Project Officers - Preschool Reform Agreement for fixed term, full-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The PECES Branch, within the Statewide Services Division, is responsible for developing and implementing system-wide policy and strategic planning in early childhood education for Western Australian public schools.
The Branch provides leadership in implementing state and national early childhood education reforms, including National Partnerships and Agreements, and works collaboratively with schools, regions, education sectors, and other government and non-government agencies. Its focus is to improve outcomes for young children by supporting quality teaching, leadership, and engagement with families and communities.
The Role
We are seeking a motivated and organised Project Officer to provide operational, administrative, and analytical support to early childhood education projects across the Branch. The Preschool Reform Agreement, supports implementation and reporting on national early childhood priorities through data collection, analysis, and coordination of workforce and student population information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of early childhood initiatives and national agreements.
- Research, collate, and analyse data relating to workforce development, staffing, and student population projections.
- Maintain accurate project records and databases, and prepare correspondence, reports, and briefing materials.
- Coordinate administrative processes including financial tracking, procurement, and travel arrangements.
- Contribute to project planning, progress monitoring, and evaluation activities.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support effective project delivery across early childhood initiatives.
About You
The suitable applicant should have:
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to research, analyse, and present data accurately and effectively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data management systems.
- Well-developed written, interpersonal, and communication skills to work collaboratively within a team and with stakeholders.
- A proactive, detail-oriented approach and a commitment to improving outcomes for young children.
Appointments from this pool can only be made once funding has been confirmed through the Preschool Reform Agreement extension.

Eligibility

- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
- complete the Department's induction program within 3 months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department's training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within 6 months of appointment and every 3 years thereafter
- complete the Department's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
