We're looking for a skilled and motivated Financial Accountant to join our Finance team – someone who takes pride in accuracy, values collaboration and is driven to make a positive impact for our community.

In this role, you'll take a hands-on approach to managing the City's financial integrity through timely, compliant and transparent financial management and statutory reporting. You'll work closely with colleagues across the organisation to strengthen financial systems, processes and governance, ensuring our financial position remains robust and well-managed.

You'll bring strong technical accounting expertise, a proactive and solutions-focused mindset and the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation. If you're detail-oriented, adaptable and ready to contribute to continuous improvement, we'd love to hear from you.

Salary: Level 8/9  $111,556.54 to $129,844.61 pro-rata p.a. + 12% Super

Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time

What You'll Be Doing

  • Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements and statutory reports
  • Support the development and implementation of robust accounting and asset management systems
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, governance frameworks and accounting standards
  • Provide advice on taxation matters relevant to the City's operations
  • Manage the City's cash flow and investment portfolio in line with policy
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver timely and accurate financial outcomes

What We're Looking For

  • A current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain
  • A relevant qualification in Accounting and CPA/CA membership (or working towards it)
  • Proven experience in a financial accounting role
  • A solid understanding of financial and statutory reporting requirements
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and sound analytical ability
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Local Government and/or knowledge of Technology One are highly desirable
