Case Worker – Integrated Family Support Services (IFSS)
Launceston, Tasmania
0.6 – 0.8 FTE
Contract to June 2027
CatholicCare Tasmania is the primary social services agency of the Catholic Church across Tasmania. We have 60 years' experience delivering a wide range of services and support to improve individual, family and community wellbeing. Our services are available and open to all with a particular focus on families, young people and children.
About the Role
CatholicCare Tasmania's Integrated Family Support Services program provides early-intervention, in-home support to families experiencing vulnerability. We work alongside parents and carers to build practical skills, strengthen relationships, and create safe and nurturing home environments where children and young people can thrive.
As a Case Worker, you will:
- Provide tailored one-to-one, strengths-based support to families within their homes and communities.
- Maintain a manageable caseload, enabling you to spend quality time with each family, understand their goals, and work collaboratively toward positive change.
- Conduct regular home visits and outreach across Launceston and surrounding areas
- Partner with schools, health services, and community agencies to connect families with practical supports.
- Assist parents to develop routines, parenting strategies and life skills that promote family stability and child wellbeing.
- Keep accurate case notes and contribute to program review and continuous improvement.
This is a hands-on, relationship-based role. You'll be out and about in the community meeting families in their homes, collaborating with other professionals, and representing CatholicCare Tasmania as a trusted partner to families.
About You
You're a warm, engaging communicator who enjoys working directly with people and seeing change happen in real time. You thrive on variety and bring genuine curiosity and respect to every family you meet.
You bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Services or related field (or equivalent experience, e.g., Diploma plus 3 years case work).
- Experience supporting families experiencing complex challenges such as parenting stress, family violence, mental health issues or housing instability.
- Excellent communication and rapport-building skills — you connect easily and earn trust through authenticity and empathy.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise when working independently in the field.
- Confidence engaging with a diverse range of families and community stakeholders.
- Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed practice and risk assessment.
- A current driver's licence and the ability to obtain a Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People registration.
