The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of all Victorians. We're focused on
supporting Victorians to be as healthy as they can; whether through alerting them to seasonal risks like thunderstorm asthma, notifying them of contact with
communicable diseases, safeguarding their drinking water, developing the best health, wellbeing and care facilities in the world, being at the forefront of mental health and
wellbeing treatment or accelerating medical research. It's all part of the way we partner with the community to help every individual lead a healthy life.
About the role: 2 x Fixed Term Positions for 15 Months.
The Senior MCH Nurse Advisor contributes to the work of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) program area, including contributing to the creation of a new suite of evidence-based and family-friendly digital resources to better support Victorian families and underpin the Victorian MCH Service.
The role will use their specialist MCH and EPC clinical expertise to contribute to:
- the review, revision and transition of MCH printed resources into digital formats, including the creation within tight timeframes of a digital version of the My Health, Learning and Development "Green" Book provided to every new Victorian baby as a personal health record
- ensuring that digital resources and content remain fit-for-purpose for use by the clinical MCH workforce and Victorian parents, carers and families
- creating and managing a central repository of approved MCH and parenting digital resources, and ensuring strategic alignment with existing national and Victorian parenting websites with evidence-based resources.
- high priority interdepartmental initiatives to improve access to effective and user friendly digital tools and information to better support Victorian families in the early years.
- informing other strategic projects including the MCH system replacement project and improvement opportunities emerging from the Victorian MCH Advisory Group and MCH Consumer Partner Group.
The role requires broad clinical experience working in the MCH Service or Early Parenting Centres, a flexible, problem-solving mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work within a team to achieve outcomes to quick deadlines.

- Gather, consolidate and contribute expert and authoritative advice and input into the revision and development of user-friendly parent-facing resources.
- Identify and encourage approaches for continuous improvement and guidance on achieving optimal outcomes for children, parents and families.
