Located approximately 550km south-west of Cairns and just south of the base of the Gulf of Carpentaria, in the heart of the Gulf Savannah country, lies the quaint and beautiful town of Croydon. Rich in history, boasting beautiful heritage buildings, the iconic Gulflander train, stunning sunsets and numerous trails for birdwatching, bushwalking, mountain biking and trail running. Croydon offers a unique Outback experience while providing all the necessary services, including a supermarket, healthcare centre, schooling, and recreational facilities.

The Position: This position is responsible for coordinating and managing Council's information and records management function as well as providing high-level customer service and administration services.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Maintain Council's Records Management System in accordance with policies and procedures and in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • Provide advice to the Leadership Team regarding compliance with appropriate legislation and standards for records management, including Queensland State Archives.
  • Provide front counter reception and customer service.
  • Administrative support including the compilation of correspondence, reports, templates, procedures and manuals.
  • Provide the Queensland Government Agency Program (QGAP) services to the community.

Skills / Experience Required: To be successful in the role, you will need:

  • Qualifications and / or experience in Records Management and/or Administration role.
  • High level of computing ability incorporating Microsoft Suite applications.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated time management skills, high level of accuracy and attention to detail and ability to work well within a team environment.
