Our client, a global leader in specialty industrial solutions — with expertise in oil-free, high-pressure, energy-saving, and advanced applications — is seeking a highly experienced Senior In-house Legal Counsel to join their Head Office in the Western Suburbs.
This is a senior-level opportunity where your expertise will directly influence strategic decision-making and risk management across the Oceania Region. Reporting to the Senior Corporate Counsel, you will provide high-level legal guidance to operating divisions in Australia and New Zealand, ensuring compliance, mitigating risk, and supporting the organisation's growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic legal partnership: Build trusted relationships with senior management and operating divisions to embed legal engagement in commercial processes.
- Risk and compliance leadership: Provide pragmatic, solution-oriented advice that balances legal expertise with commercial insight.
- Contract and negotiation oversight: Lead negotiations for tenders, contracts, and leases, tailoring terms to safeguard business interests.
- Governance and dispute management: Advise on day-to-day legal issues, oversee dispute resolution, and manage litigation strategies.
- Training and development: Elevate contract literacy and legal awareness through workshops, training sessions, and resource development.
- Major projects and M&A: Provide counsel on regional initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, ensuring smooth execution and integration.
- Regional collaboration: Partner with the South-East Asia & Oceania Holding Team and cross-functional groups to deliver holistic legal strategies.
- Compliance oversight: Ensure adherence to corporate governance standards and legal obligations across Oceania entities.
Requirements
- Minimum 6 years' PQE with strong experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, ideally within construction or oil & gas.
- Current unrestricted practicing certificate.
- Proven ability to operate at a senior level, balancing strategic oversight with hands-on execution.
- Exceptional communication skills, with confidence in high-pressure negotiations.
- Integrity-driven, solution-focused, and commercially astute.
- Background in private practice or in-house corporate counsel.
This is a 12-month contract with immediate start, offering stability, international exposure, and the chance to make a significant impact in a global organisation. Based conveniently in the Western Suburbs, you'll join a company that values and rewards high performance.
And with Christmas approaching, you'll enjoy the flexibility to take two weeks off to recharge or continue working through the festive period — the choice is yours.
Apply now for an immediate interview and take the next step in your senior legal career.
