The full-time Naval Architect position is located our office in Port Adelaide, 5013, SA.

Position

We are seeking a FULL-TIME Naval Architect.

The Naval Architect will support the design, construction, repair, analysis, and evaluation and decommissioning of marine vessels, structures, and systems. This entry-level role will provide an opportunity for an emerging professional in the field of naval architecture to gain hands-on experience in the marine construction industry.

This role will work under the guidance of the Naval Architect – assisting with a range of technical tasks such as design calculations, performance analysis, and the creation of reports and documentation. The position plays an important role in our company's strong growth schedule by supporting the design, analysis and evaluation of our marine vessels, structures and systems. The position involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and provides an excellent platform for professional development in naval architecture. This role will focus on enhancing the company's engineering capabilities and ensuring the successful execution of Maritime Constructions' projects.

Main Tasks:

  • Assist in the design and optimisation of vessel structures, hull forms and marine systems, using both traditional and software-assisted methods.
  • Create and analyse 3D models and simulations of marine vessels and systems.
  • Support tender preparation and provide technical input for project execution.
  • Assist in the design, development, and evaluation of maritime structures and vessels.
  • Contribute to the preparation and modification of technical drawings, models, and specifications.
  • Provide support in conducting performance assessments and analyses of marine systems and structures.
  • Working closely with the Naval Architect, collaborate with project teams to assess the feasibility of marine solutions, support tender preparation, and provide technical input for project execution, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Adhere to engineering standards, utilising safety management systems, and risk assessments, contributing to the continuous improvement of operational practices and project quality.
  • Aid in ensuring all designs comply with relevant regulations and safety standards.
  • Develop practical understanding of naval architecture principles and industry practices.

Key requirements

  • At least an AQF bachelor degree or higher in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or at least five years of relevant experience is a must
  • Minimum 1-year relevant work experience in the industry
  • 2 years professional experience (internships or relevant academic projects will be considered advantageous)
  • Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, Rhino, SolidWorks or other naval architecture modelling tools
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • National Police Check
  • C-Class Drivers Licence

Remuneration

This is an exciting and varied role with a generous annual base salary plus superannuation depending on qualifications and work experience.

The specific package will be offered to the successful candidate depending upon the meeting of the above selection criteria and including past experience. Leave and other entitlements are paid as per the Professional Engineers Award 2020 and National Employment Standard (NES).
