About the role

As the Manager, Maintenance & Wharf Services you have the chance to work in a fast-moving environment with a constant flow of challenges and opportunities for growth.

In this role, you will be responsible to lead and manage a multi-disciplined team of trade qualified maintenance, wharf services, planning & scheduling staff, to allow the Port to operate efficiently and safely.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies and plans to optimise the performance and lifespan of critical port infrastructure and equipment
  • Oversee rostering, leave management, recruitment, learning & development and performance management of staff including mentoring of GTNT apprentices.
  • Ensure routine maintenance and preventative maintenance is carried out within agreed timeframes
  • Identify and manage asset risk, ensuring work is completed to maintain asset integrity.
  • Monitor and report on maintenance activities, budgets and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external service providers to coordinate maintenance and wharf operations
  • Ensure all maintenance and wharf services activities comply with relevant work health & safety and environmental regulation

What we're looking for

This role is suitable for a qualified leader who is looking for an opportunity to enter the Port industry and build on their existing experience in other areas, or to continue their professional growth in the sector.

  • Trade Qualification in Metal Fabrication/Mechanical Fitter/Machinist/Diesel Fitter or Electrical.
  • A qualification in leadership or management, or the ability to obtain
  • Significant experience (5+ years) in a senior maintenance or operations role within a industrial, logistics or port environment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team of trade qualified maintenance and operational personnel
  • Strong technical understanding of port infrastructure, equipment and maintenance best practices
  • Excellent communication management, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Significant planning and scheduling experience is desirable.
  • Experience in the maintenance of asset management systems such as SAP or MEX is desirable.
  • Current Australian manual drivers licence
  • Full Australian work rights are required
  • Pre-employment criminal history & medical checks will be required prior to offer of employment

  • 37.5 hours per week worked Monday – Friday.
  • Onsite position, located at East Arm Wharf
  • 5 weeks annual leave per annum (accrued pro rata)
  • Permanent full-time position
