A Nationally recognised engineering consultancy is offering an outstanding opportunity for an experienced
Associate Director - Structures
to join its Melbourne office. With a robust pipeline across high-rise/mid-rise buildings and complex structures, this firm provides the platform for a strategic leader to make a lasting impact.

The Role

As Associate Director (Structural), you'll shape technical direction and business performance. You'll lead high-profile projects, mentor talented structural engineers, and work alongside senior leadership to drive both technical excellence and commercial growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own projects from concept and preliminary schemes through detailed design and delivery
  • Deepen and expand client relationships across private and public sectors
  • Provide technical leadership (peer reviews, design governance, risk) and team mentorship
  • Contribute to strategy, bids, and market growth (frameworks, key accounts)
  • Manage financial performance (fees, resourcing, profitability, QA)
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Standards and drive buildability, safety, and sustainability outcomes.

About You

A senior Structural leader with a proven record delivering building structures and leading teams. You combine strong technical judgment with commercial acumen.

You'll bring:

  • Bachelor's/Master's in
    Structural or Civil Engineering
  • CPEng (or working towards) and EA membership
    ; NER/RPEV valued
  • 10+ years' consultancy experience
    across buildings (commercial, residential, health, education, industrial; transport structures a plus) in Melbourne space
  • Proficiency in analysis/design tools (e.g.,
    ETABS, SpaceGass, Strand7, RAM Concept
    ); Revit coordination familiarity
  • Demonstrated team leadership, client management, and project delivery success
  • Excellent communication skills and a strategic, growth-oriented mindset.
