Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Boyce Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Technical Operations Manager to join our Technology team in Sydney. Acting as the second-in-charge to the Head of Technology, you'll lead our support function, manage escalations, and ensure the smooth delivery of technology services across Boyce. This is a daily hands-on role — you'll combine operational leadership with direct technical work, playing a critical part in keeping systems running, resolving complex issues, and advancing our technology capability.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like

You'll be the operational heartbeat of our Technology team — managing people, processes, and platforms while staying directly involved in technical delivery every day. You will:

  • Lead IT Operations – Oversee support services, act as the primary escalation point, and ensure tickets are resolved within agreed SLAs.
  • Be the Senior Technical SME – Provide deep, daily hands-on expertise across Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Intune, networking, and endpoint management, ensuring performance, security, and reliability.
  • Drive Operational Excellence – Implement proactive maintenance, improve monitoring, and enhance our endpoint and identity management.
  • Manage People & Partners – Mentor and guide Support Analysts, manage rostering and workload, and hold MSPs and vendors accountable for outcomes.
  • Deliver Projects – Lead or contribute to technology initiatives such as Windows 11 rollouts, Intune uplifts, and other operational transitions.
  • Ensure Business Alignment – Translate technical priorities into tangible business value, balancing strong security with usability.

About You

You're a technically capable and operationally focused leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You can step into the Head of Technology's role when required, but you're equally comfortable being daily hands-on with technology to solve problems and deliver outcomes. You'll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in IT (Microsoft/Azure certifications highly regarded).
  • Significant experience in technical operations or infrastructure leadership.
  • Proven ability to manage escalations and lead a small team.
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Intune, endpoint management, networking fundamentals, and security principles.
  • Strong vendor and MSP management skills, with a track record of driving accountability.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or CoBIT frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for all audiences.
  • A customer-centric approach, with sound, independent decision-making.
